Molly B Brown's Obituary

Molly B. Brown, passed away peacefully June 16, 2019, surrounded by family and gracefully accomplished. She was born August 30, 1922, in Bridgeton New Jersey to the late George Barkus and Ruth Ricketts. In 1941, she married the late Rev. William H. Milburn in Elkton, Maryland and was blessed with four children during that union - William H. Milburn, Jr., Ashley L. Milburn, Emma R. Thorpe and Victoria E. Milburn. Following a second union, she was blessed once more with a child, Patricia A. Barkus, born to Molly and Rufus Rowland in Philadelphia. During the mid-60's, Molly moved back to New Jersey, where she later married the late Elmer Brown in Quinton in 1970.

Molly was educated in the Bridgeton City School system and received her high school diploma later in life. She worked at Anchor Hocking Glass of Salem, New Jersey and retired as a Seamstress from Val-Mode Clothing in Bridgeton. Still flourishing in her senior years, she went on to become an accomplished Artist, winning multiple awards for her work. Her pleasant personality was said to be as beautiful as the flowers she painted.

Affectionately known as "Mom Molly" and loved by many, she was active in ministry. Molly has served as member of the Senior Choir, Women's Community Choir, President of United Methodist Women's Auxiliary, Lay Speaker, served on the Missionary Board and became the first Church Mother of Fresh Word Kingdom Assemblies. Her life's work of "Service" took her to multiple cities, producing multiple church affiliations including, John Wesley United Church of Bridgeton, Haven United Methodist Church of Quinton, Second Baptist Church of Rahway - all in New Jersey, and New Birth Kingdom Covenant Church of San Diego, California.

She will forever be cherished by her children, sisters, Joan Ceaser and Marie Wilson, sister-in-law, Jeanette Watty, also a host of grands, great-grands, great-great grands, nephews, nieces and cousins, including Eleanor Hill, her 97 year old cousin she spent hours laughing with over the phone. Molly is predeceased by brothers Gordon and Joseph Watty, sisters, Amelia Dickerson and Naomi Dantzler, stepsisters, Edith Bratcher and Angeline Goldsboro.
