Monaeisha
Lewis
October 5, 1983 – April 10, 2024
Monaeisha Lewis known to many as Mona was born October 5, 1983 in Philadelphia to Merylean Matthews and Charles Lewis.
Mona was the sole survivor of triplets and weighed only one pound and a few ounces and due to these circumstances, doctors and medical specials said that more than likely Monaeisha would not survive long and predicted a short life expectancy, however Mona exceeded the medical predictions as well as overcoming many other obstacles.
On October 5, 2024, Monaeisha Lewis would have been 41 years of age, which by some standards would be considered a short life, but under her condition was nothing less than a blessing.
Monaeisha spent most of her time with her mother Merylean Matthews who was also her full-time caregiver. When she wasn't with her mother Mona would spend time in her room watching her favorite shows or listening to music of hers, Monaeisha found a love for music early in life listening to her father, mother, or brother singing or playing music around the house, needless to say, Mona's love for music remained with her throughout her life and was only outmatched by her love for her mother whom she loved more than anything. April 10, 2024, Monaeisha Lewis time with us on earth was ended, as her name was called to join the Lord.
Monaeisha Lewis was survived by her mother Merylean Matthews and father Charles Lewis (Zelda), one brother, Charles Matthews, four sisters, Tonya Mitchell of Americus, Ga, Charletha Lewis of Massachusetts, Danna of Millville, NJ and Marcella McClain of Bridgeton, NJ; Uncles, James Lewis (Donna), Arthur Harper (Willa Mae), Jessie Lewis, Robert Speed and Lawrence Speed; Aunts, Katie Martin, Brenda Speed and Linda Speed; nieces and nephews, Adarius Matthews, De'trell Matthews, Ay-zha (Asia)-Matthews, Dalen and Dorien Pernell; great nieces and nephews, Jacion Matthews, Avanni-Monet Matthews and Jayden Matthews.
Along with a host of cousins and friends of the family she was predeceased by maternal grandparents Robert Speed, Sr. and Earline Speed, Paternal Grandparents James Lewis Sr. and Eula Mae Lewis and also aunts and uncles
