August 30, 1935 – October 26, 2024
My mother, Mrs. Naomi Mae Jackson Morris went to meet her Saviour on October 26, 2024. She was 89 years young. Naomi was born to Frances Mae Carter, and Frank (Jobie) Jackson in Springtown, N.J.
She attended school in Port Norris. Naomi, also known as Nell on her side of the family and friends she grew up in Port Norris, and Nye by Pop's family, in-laws, and friends in Bridgeton.
Hard work was no stranger to Naomi. She worked the fields as a child until a teenager. She was a cook at the BARBECUE RESTAURANT downtown. She shucked oysters for some time. She also worked at Merbecks in Bridgeton. At the tender age of 35, she decided to retire. Her life then involved cooking and baking. She was well known for her Molasses cookies, and chicken and dumplings. Crocheting and bowling were her hobbies, but bowling was her favorite. She was an avid bowler for over 35 years.
Mom was a loving person. She loved everyone and everything. Would feed anybody and anything. She attended King Memorial Church for a few years, and then became a member of Bethel Othello in Springtown. Her duties were Missionary, Trustee, Steward, and Treasurer. She was a dedicated member, and she truly loved the Lord.
Naomi leaves to cherish her love and memories, daughter Rosezenia Collins (Charles), 2 grandchildren, Kevin Wallace, and Dawn Brewer (Richard), 7 great-grands, 10 great-great grands. 4 sisters, Rhodella and Cordella Knight, both of Cape May, NJ, Rita Brooks (O'Neil) of Whitesboro, NJ, Bertina Wilson (Thomas) of Parkton, NC, 1 brother, James Gross (Brenda) of Egg Harbor, NJ, 1 Uncle, Robert Carter of Vineland, NJ. She also leaves a huge host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Naomi was predeceased by 2 sisters, Alice Carr of Annapolis, MD, Elizabeth R. Carroll of Bridgeton, NJ. Uncle Sharpie of Port Norris, NJ, Aunt Gertie Denby of Vineland, NJ, Aunt Hazel of Florida. Aunt Evelyn of Virginia.
