April 18, 1931 – August 22, 2021
Natalie J. Stokes, 90, peacefully passed away August 22, 2021 surrounded with love and prayer. She was born April 18, 1931 in Baltimore, MD. where she attended Paul S. Dunbar School and worked as a candy stripper in John Hopkins hospital. She then moved to New Jersey along with her late husband Clarence Stokes whom she married October 8, 1950. While in Jersey she worked for Vineland State School (Vineland Developmental Center) while continuing her education at the age of 40 at Cumberland County College where she received her Registered Nursing degree/license and then was promoted to Head Nurse at the State School in which she worked for 38 years.
Many know Natalie as a loving Deaconess/Mother and devout member of New Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Mays Landing, NJ. Where she spent most of her time serving the Lord, singing, and praying for all her children. Being a phenomenal example of what it means to love and trust the Lord.
Natalie is predeceased in death by her husband Clarence Stokes, brother Thomas Moore, sister Hilda Johnston, and sons Thomas, Lawrence, and Clarence Stokes.
She is survived and left to mourn her homegoing by her brothers Elmer (May) and Nathaniel (Mary) Moore. As well as her children Earl Moore, Nathaniel Stokes (Denise), Natalie Stokes, Carlton Stokes, and daughter in-laws Janas, Prudence, and Rhonda Stokes. Two god-daughters Stephanie Peterson and Marlene Brown. Also, ten wonderful grandchildren, 20 great- grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends
