Pamela Lori Winrow's Obituary

Pamela L. Winrow, of Fairfield Township, transitioned peacefully at home on December 22, 2021, at the age of 65.

Pamela was born on July 28, 1956, in Bridgeton, NJ to the late Howard E. Winrow and Odel (Corbin) Winrow. She received her  early elementary education at Fairfield Public Schools and was a graduate of the Bridgeton High School class of 1974. She attended Trenton State College where she studied Sociology.

In her early years, she started out in the casino industry and the United States Postal Service before finding her true calling in social work and civil service. She worked for various non-profit organizations, shelters, and most recently South Woods State Prison.  Pam found great joy in helping others and was known for her caring nature.  She always had a kind word to uplift, her dry wit for a good laugh, and a warm hug to make one feel loved.  Those who truly knew Pam know that she was definitely sweet, but she would also bring the heat if necessary.

Although raised Christian, Pam was a true "free spirit" and developed an early interest in the Muslim faith.  She later converted and practiced Islam for many years before deciding that she did not necessarily need to be bound to any particular religion because she was spiritually grounded.  She believed in God and that was enough for her to walk her spiritual path.

She enjoyed traveling, grooving to James Brown songs, and having a good time whether it was with girlfriends or her only child, Jasmine. For a good portion of their lives, it was just the two of them and Pam made sure she was raised with a family foundation built on self-respect, dignity, and strength.  If "Jas" was Pam's true love, then her grandchildren were her greatest.  She would pass on these same values to the girls during their frequent beach trips, crab dinners, and while binge watching cooking shows.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Jasmine Strickland, four granddaughters, Jade Williams, Laila Williams, Mya Williams, and Keira Williams, sisters-in-law Shannon Stooksberry-Winrow and Nancy Trigg Winrow, a nephew, Justin Winrow, two nieces, Jamison and Kamryn Winrow, one uncle, Granville Winrow and one aunt, Vail Bailey, and numerous cousins.  She was affectionately known as "Aunt Pam" to many.  She also leaves a large circle of sister-friends who will no doubt continue to carry her in their hearts.

She was predeceased by her beloved grandmother Elva Richardson, parents Howard and Odel Winrow, brother, Jason Winrow, and nephew, Jason Winrow, Jr.
