June 6, 1943 – March 12, 2020
Peter D Bell Jr. 76 of Fairfield Township (affectionately known as Pete or Junnie) was born June 6,1943 in Bridgeton NJ, to the late Peter D Bell Sr. and the late Clara A (Couch) Bell.
Pete died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on March 12, 2020 after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Pete was educated in Bridgeton School before enlisting in the US Army October 11, 1960 majoring in the Field of Communications and was honorably discharged October 10, 1963.
After working different jobs, Pete turned his passion for truck Driving into a career becoming the sole owner of Peter D Bell Jr. and Sons Trucking Company in 1973. He taught his sons and many others how to drive truck and the ins and outs of the business.
Pete knew the back roads and the highways and was known coast to coast in the trucking community by the handle "Crazy Horse".
He had the kind of personality that was infectious and unforgettable. Once you met him you would never forget Peter Bell.
Pete married his beloved wife of 54 years Mabel Goodwin in 1966. Pete was a wonderful loving father to 7 children. Jewel Evans (Donald) of Georgia, Ricky Strickland (Davina) of Bridgeton, Nina Bell- Graves (Duane) of Millville, Peter D Bell 3 rd (Terri) of Wisconsin, Patricia Grace (Carl) of Fairfield Township, Michael D Bell (Marion) of California and Tracey Bell of Bridgeton.
He was adored by his grandchildren, Anthony, Jennifer, Andrew, Allyce, Jessica, Alayre, Jordan, Kendel, Rickie Jr., Daveonna, Bradford, Marcus, Giamani, and Dakota.
Pete is also survived by his siblings Mary Farmer and Clara Jones both of Fairfield Township, Evelyn (Kenwood) Hagamin of Camden, James Arthur (Patricia) Bell of Texas, and Martha Pitts of North Carolina; sisters in law, Eileen Goodwin of Bridgeton and Barbara Carpenter of Maryland; 12 great grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
He was predeceased in death by his parents Peter D Bell Sr. and Clara A Bell, a daughter Joycelyn; sisters Virginia Lewis and Ida Williams.
The family would like to thank everyone for their acts of kindness. A private memorial will be held at the convenience of the family.
