Rita Mary Elizabeth Harris departed this life unexpectedly on December 26, 2024. Rita was born on February 20, 1953, at Salem Memorial Hospital to the late William Brown and Margaret Matilda Harris. Rita attended Quinton Grade School and Salem High School. As a child she grew up attending Haven United Methodist Church.
Rita worked all her adult life, 42 years of dedicated service, until retirement with Anchor Glass Plant in Salem. When Rita was not working, she enjoyed spending time talking with family and friends. Rita also dedicated a lot of time supporting Haven's various ministries. Rita's passion was floral arrangements and decorating. She was known for decorating baby showers, bridal showers, Christmas, and other special events for church, family, and friends.
Rita is preceded in death by her son, Montoya K. Harris; son-in-law, Omari M. Todd; sisters, Naden Harris and Darlene Harris; brothers, William Brown Jr., Richard Harris, Gregory Brown, and Elmer Brown. She is survived by her daughter Shaylin Todd; step son, Gregory Lipsey, sister, Ethel Brown; brother, Zachary Brown (Hope); sister in law, Shirley Brown; and grandchildren Olivia and Owen Todd as well as many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
