Roy Roberts,
Sr.
February 27, 1942 – February 20, 2026
Roy "Buddy Roy" Roberts, Sr., age 83, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026, in Camden, New Jersey. Born on February 27, 1942, in Hahira, Georgia, Roy lived a full and vibrant life that touched the hearts of many.
Roy was the son of the late Mattie Lou Daniels and Troy Roberts. He was also preceded in death by his beloved son, Roy
Roberts Jr.; his brother, Roger Roberts; and three sisters, Betty Gillespie, Ruby Thomas, and Brenda Myrick. Despite these losses, Roy's life was filled with love and joy shared with his surviving family and friends.
Roy was known for his loving nature and unwavering honesty. He had a generous spirit and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who crossed his path. A man who found joy in life's simple pleasures, he loved spending time outdoors—whether fishing by the water's edge or grilling up something delicious for those he cared about. His car was always spotless thanks to his meticulous care, and he could often be found outside enjoying the fresh air with a cigar in hand.
Family gatherings were made brighter by Roy's infectious laugh and lively presence. He had a knack for bringing people together through dancing and fun-filled moments that will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
May the memory of Roy "Buddy Roy" Roberts Sr. bring comfort to those who loved him as they celebrate a life well-lived.
He is survived by his four children: Sheila Roberts-Mouzon (Anthony), Shanika Martin, Shawn Martin, and India Jackson. He also leaves behind a devoted step-son Michael Hayes and step-daughter Stacie Hayes. Roy cherished his two sisters, Rose Walker (Robert) and Addie Miller. His legacy continues through his 19 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever hold him close in their hearts.
Humbly Submitted, The Family
