With hearts filled with love, gratitude, and cherished memories, we celebrate the life and legacy of Sandra Diane Bridges, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Born on October 7, 1938, in the Bronx, New York, to Mabel Basemore and John Victor Basemore, Sandra lived a life marked by devotion to her family, steadfast faith in God, a joyful spirit, and a love that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Sandra was a woman who found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She had a creative spirit and a love for arts and crafts, taking delight in creating things with her hands and bringing beauty into the world around her. She enjoyed gardening, taking walks, and line dancing, embracing the activities that brought her joy and kept her spirit vibrant. Yet, among her most treasured moments were those spent with her grandchildren, especially playing with them in the pool. The laughter, smiles, and precious memories they shared will remain a lasting reminder of the special place her grandchildren held in her heart.

Sandra also demonstrated dedication and commitment throughout her professional life. She proudly worked for the United States Postal Service for more than 25 years, serving with the kind of perseverance and dependability that defined her generation. Her years of service represented an important chapter in her life, reflecting her strong work ethic and commitment to fulfilling her responsibilities. Her legacy extends beyond her years of employment, living on through the family she loved, the relationships she nurtured, and the countless memories she leaves behind.

Faith was another cornerstone of Sandra’s life. Sundays were especially meaningful to her, as she looked forward to attending Maranatha Baptist Church with her beloved husband, Caswell, and their friends. She treasured the opportunity to praise the Lord, worship alongside others, and share in the fellowship of her church family. Her relationship with God provided comfort, strength, and purpose, and the faith she carried throughout her life will continue to inspire those who loved her.

Sandra understood that the greatest blessings in life are often found in the people with whom we share it. Whether spending time with family, enjoying a quiet moment in her garden, taking a walk, dancing, or driving up to NY to visit her sisters, she embraced the moments that made life meaningful. Her presence brought a special warmth to the lives of those around her, and her memory will forever be woven into the fabric of her family’s story.

Those Who Preceded Her in Death

Sandra was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Caswell Bridges, with whom she shared a life filled with love, companionship, and faith. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Delores Aguilar and Beverly Eugene; her brothers, Kenneth Basemore, Donald Basemore, and Andre Basemore; her brother-in-law John Bridges, her nephews, Charles “Sonny” Eugene and Steven Basemore; and her niece, Angelique Eugene.

Though their absence has left a space that can never truly be filled, the bonds they shared and the memories they created remain a treasured part of her family’s history. We find comfort in the hope that Sandra has been reunited with her beloved Caswell and the family members who went before her.

Those She Leaves to Cherish Her Memory

Sandra leaves behind a loving family who will forever hold her close in their hearts. She is survived by her sisters, Gail Foster and Audrey Jernigan; her son, Shawn Christopher Bridges; and her beloved grandsons, Breyden Christopher John Bridges and Jameison Riley Bridges, who brought her immeasurable joy.

She also leaves behind her nephews, Jamel Shabazz, Wayne Foster, Derrick Basemore, Steven Basemore, Andre Eugene, Hunter Jernigan, Kenny Basemore Jr., and Donny Basemore; and her nieces, Katrina Eugene and Donna Dantzler.

In addition to her immediate family, Sandra leaves behind extended family members, dear friends, and her beloved Maranatha Baptist Church family. Each carries a unique memory of her life, whether through a shared laugh, a family gathering, a Sunday worship service, a conversation, or one of the many ordinary moments that become extraordinary when remembered with love.
