It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Sharwin Leland Coates, who departed this life on May 20, 2026, at the age of 65. Born on September 29, 1960, in Woodbury, NJ. Sharwin was the cherished son of the late Bennie and Eva Coates (Scott). He was the oldest of the three siblings. He left this world suddenly, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, humor, and genuine passion for life. Sharwin's educational journey began in the Woodbury School System, where he laid the foundation for a lifelong love of learning. He pursued higher education at Rutgers University and the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy, where he expanded his knowledge and honed his skills. His professional career was marked by dedication and innovation, particularly in the field of information technology. Sharwin held various I.T. support positions at the University of Pennsylvania, CHOP, and most recently Coast Professional Inc. In 1991, he was recognized with a technical achievement award from FMC Agricultural Chemical Group Research & Development, a testament to his expertise and commitment to excellence. Despite his technical prowess, Sharwin followed a unique dream when he embraced his love for people and became a bar manager at Rotten Ralph's Pub in Philadelphia, where he worked from 2008 to 2018. Sharwin's interests were as diverse as they were vibrant. He was a lover of cars, fencing, comic books, motorcycles, music, the "Star Wars" saga while also bootlegging movies for his family. He could often be found sharing jokes and stories, captivating those around him with his wit and charm. His passion for vintage collectibles and trading on eBay was matched only by his love for fishing, where he found peace and solace. By day, Sharwin was a computer geek, navigating the digital world with ease. By night, he was a talented musician, playing and singing all instruments sharing his gift with friends and family alike. You can search “Winter Street” on YouTube to find him in true happiness with his band mates. His dynamic life and outgoing personality were a testament to his belief that there was always a solution if you just looked in the right spot.Sharwin is predeceased by his parents and his sister, Sharleen Coates.
