Sherby Jean Wells's Obituary

Sherby Jean, daughter to Jesse James Whitlow and Viola Whitlow Clark, began her earthly journey on March 12, 1949, in Bridgeton, New Jersey.

She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was a member of St. Phillips Missionary Baptist Church. She faithfully served as an Evangelist, played piano, choir director and loved to sing.

Sherby received her formal education in the Cumberland County New Jersey School System. She was a graduate of Bridgeton High School and earned an Associate Degree at Cumberland County College. She was a packer for Wheaton Corp.

On July 19, 1970, Sherby united in holy matrimony with Benny Wells, Jr., and they were the proud parents of four sons.

Devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and Woman of God who loved writing poetry, telling stories about her family and spending time with her family and friends. She thoroughly enjoyed babysitting. All who knew and loved her will sorely miss her presence and smiling face.

On Wednesday, November 17, 2021, Sherby departed this life to be with the Lord.

Sherby leaves to cherish precious memories to her husband of 51 years, Benny Wells, Jr.; sons: Morrie Whitlow, Elmer, NJ, Gary Whitlow, Wynston Whitlow, Sr., and Vincent Wells, all of Bridgeton, NJ; eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; mother, Viola Whitlow Clark, Statesboro, GA; father, Jesse James Whitlow, Chicago, IL; sister, Hattie Brown Collins; brother, Morrie Whitlow, both of Bridgeton, NJ; aunt, Sadie Alston; uncles: Henry Alston, Willie Alexander; grandparents: Saunders Cooper, Hattie Cooper and a host of relatives and friends.
