Sidney
Kollock
July 16, 1948 – August 9, 2022
On August 9, 2022 St. Elder Sidney Kollock, surrounded by the love and presence of his family at his side, peacefully transitioned from this life as he entered the arms of God. He was born on July 16, 1948 to the late James and Saint Marie Kollock. He was the fifth of six children.
His name was placed on the United House of Prayer roll as a member in Vineland shortly after birth. St. Elder Kollock was educated in the Vineland Public School System and graduated from Vineland Senior High School. He was an avid sports fan; he played football in high school. At any given moment, he could without hesitation give you the latest stats on the colleges or professional sports teams and the coaching staffs. Being a diehard Dallas Cowboy fan, while watching the game he would be suited in his team's attire ready and patiently waiting for the win. He even coached Midget League Football for the Vineland Little League Football Association.
St. Elder Kollock married his best friend and the love of his life, Barbara Bowman, in 1969; this union continued for 53 years until the time of his death. Two children were born from this union, Cassandra, and Cory. He was a devoted and loving father that prepared his children to be faithful, responsible, respectful, and patient adults.
St. Elder Kollock enlisted in the National Guard in 1973 as a rifle specialist and received honorable discharge in 1975. He was employed 30 years for the State of New Jersey, 15 years as a driver and 10 years as Chaplin at the New Jersey Veteran's Memorial Home. During his tenure at the Veteran's Home, he organized the Veteran's Memorial Home Choir for which he directed. The choir often performed singing uplifting messages of joy and faith at various events for the Veterans, their families, and friends. He retired in 2012.
He touched and illuminated many lives spreading love, peace, and joy always smiling regardless of how he felt. He brought people together with his encouraging words. He was a huge community outreach advocate and loved helping others especially the youth. He was a great listener and provided counsel for natural and spiritual growth. He also helped many to acquire funding through state grants and allocations for housing, food, and educational needs.
St. Elder Kollock loved serving the Lord and attended the United House of Prayer in Vineland nightly. He served faithfully under four prophets. During this time, he served in many capacities beginning as a Grace Grannie. He was a member of Vineland's McCollough Untouchables Shout Band, the Heavenly Melodies Band as well as an honorary member of the McCollough Thunderbirds of New York City Mother House. He was also a lead vocalist for the Stars of Joy Choir, the Resurrection Choir, the Bailey Gospel Singers, and a member of the Bailey Voices of Return. He was also a member of the United House of Prayer National Choir. Singing was his passion. He was a faithful member of the Voices of McCollough Choir from the State of Pennsylvania for over 35 years. He traveled and served extensively with them especially during their annual missionary trips to Los Angeles, CA. He was one of the House of Prayer Luxury Liner bus drivers for the State. He was also a member of the state committee of the McCollough Scholarship Program.
In 1993 under the leadership of Precious Daddy McCollough, St. Elder Kollock answered the call and became an Elder. After his anointing, he became the Youth Pastor of Vineland and temporarily served as the Youth Pastor in South Philadelphia. He became Vineland's Assistant Pastor in 2010. He served dutifully, faithfully, and tirelessly in spite of illness. He would open the doors nightly, never presenting excuses to keep him from God's house and fulfilling his duties.
He was president of the Elder Board in Vineland and the State Elder Board of Pennsylvania district. He never said "no". Whatever he could find for his hands to do in the House of Prayer, he did. He could even be found cutting the grass, trimming the hedges, sweeping and power washing the
sidewalk, or even shoveling snow during the cold winter months. Throughout his triumphs of sickness and declining health, he always managed to persevere.
Affectionately known as "Sid", "Pop", "Pop-Pop" and sometimes "Champ", he was a family man and people person with such a keen sense of humor. While his sun has set in the flesh, his spirit will continue to glow. He enjoyed family gatherings, laughing and bringing joy to others. He always took the time to listen and would seize the opportunity to talk about the goodness of the Lord. Whether it was an encouraging word or piece of advice, he had a scripture on hand to offer that would ease the situation.
He was an honorary member of Grand Lodge No. 160 in Elmer, New Jersey, F&AM Prince Hall Affiliation, Sanford Lodge No 26 in Vineland and served as Worshipful Master.
He leaves to forever cherish his memories: his devoted wife Barbara; four children, Cassandra Scott (Julian), Suitland, MD, Cory Kollock (Danielle), Brandywine, MD, Karen Harris (Fred, Sr.) and Shawn Coit (Amy) both of Vineland, NJ; eight grandchildren, Breana Sydney Kollock and Cassandra Allyssa Kollock, Vineland, NJ, Calian Ridley Scott, Suitland, MD, Fred Harris, Jr., William Harris, Madison Coit and Hannah Coit all of Vineland and Bailey Jean-Paul McGahee, Brandywine, MD; three sisters, Lelar Gray (James), Roselyn Scott and Sarah Brown all of Vineland; one brother, Ronnie Burt, Sr., Bluffton, SC; two sisters-in-law, Bernice Higginbotham (William, Sr.) and Loretta Downing (Robert) of Vineland; four brothers-in-law, John Bowman, Jr. (Patricia), Los Angeles CA, Thomas Bowman, Sr. (Sharon), Santa Monica CA, Matthew Bowman (Florence), Bear DE and Allen Bowman, Sr., Lancaster, PA; five godchildren, Tiombai Ratliff, Richmond VA, Clarence Thompson, Jr., Philadelphia PA, Byron Scott, Lansdale, PA, Gary Gingham, Jr., Baltimore, MD, Nicole Green, Vineland, NJ and Felicia Tabron, Accokeek, MD; and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, other extended family and friends.
