Telfair, Sr.
June 13, 1941 – October 7, 2024
Simon Benjamin Telfair Sr., age 83, peacefully departed this life on October 7, 2024, at his home surrounded by loved ones.
Simon was born June 13, 1941, in Nunez, Georgia to the late Oscar Telfair and Frozie Hall Telfair. He attended public schools in Emmanuel County.
Simon moved to New Jersey in 1960, he was employed by Hunts Food, Seabrook Food, Salem pipe & Iron. In 1969 he became employed by Kimble Glass and retired.
He was a God fearing man, through his walk with Christ he also served as an Usher, trustee, and a member of the #2 Choir at St. Phillips Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Levi Lockamy. Later on, he became a member of Glory Tabernacle under the Leadership of Bishop Hadley, and served on the usher board until his health began to fail.
During his leisure time he enjoyed traveling, shopping, maintaining his yard and home. For those who knew him, he kept his Cadillac clean and dressed sharp head to toe.
Simon was a devoted father, grandfather and a loving uncle.
He was predeceased by his parents, all his siblings and three children, Shirley Jean Telfair, Simon Benjamin Telfair Jr. and Robin Denise Ford.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Telfair, two daughters, Lenora Telfair and Kathryn Williams, one son, Christopher (Terri) Telfair, two bonus daughters Quander (Tommy) Prince and Latoya (Dewonder) Gantlin, one Goddaughter, Shatiera Gardner, two brothers in-law, Freddie (Janice) Redmond and Gus (Val) Redmond, 21 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, two special friends, Charles Todd & Verant Tyson, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
