Timothy D. Winchester's Obituary

Timothy Darryl Winchester age 58 passed away Friday afternoon November 6, 2020 in Virtua Hospital , Marlton, NJ after an extended illness.

Timothy was born in Bridgeton, NJ on October 30, 1962 to Mildred Bailey and Henry Davis. He was given the Winchester name by his adoptive grandparents Ethel Winchester and John Winchester. He worked at an early age along with his brothers picking produce in the fields before school to earn money for school clothes and supplies. This early introduction to hardwork created the strict work ethic that served him well throughout his life.

Timothy attended the Greenwich School System and as a teenager moved to Gouldtown, NJ and graduated from Cumberland Regional High School in 1981. Timothy enlisted in the United States Army in 1981. During his tour of service as a Multi Channel Communications Radio Operator he was stationed in Fort Jackson, SC; Fort Gordon, GA; Fort Bragg, NC; Darmstadt, Germany and Honduras. He was honorably discharged in 1987 after receiving the rank of Sergeant.

The management skills he acquired in the Army allowed him to become the Supervisor of Housekeeping for 10 years at Trump Castle, Atlantic City, NJ; a Quality Control Lab Technician Department Leader at Clement Pappas, Seabrook, NJ and a Resident Supervisor at the Kintock Halfway House, Bridgeton, NJ. He was most recently employed at Nationwide Valet Service, Jefferson Hospital – Washington Township, NJ.

Timothy was a great athlete growing up. He holds a baseball no-hitter record from 1978 at Cumberland Regional High School that has not been broken. He loved his Philadelphia sports teams but even more he loved spending time with family and friends. The family could always count on him for some good barbeque. Ribs were his specialty.

Timothy leaves to celebrate his life: 3 daughters, Lawanda Upshaw (Shawn), Scherrisse Winchester, and Kendra Spurgeon. 5 grandchildren Lanaysia Hadden, James Snead, Brianna Washington, ZiYon Spurgeon, Zamir Allen and 1 great grandson De'andre Trammell; 5 sisters Kimberly Staples (Walter); Shelly Thomas (Kenneth); Mildred Davis; Samantha McClendon (Delaine); Marshea Robinson; 5 brothers Kevin Winchester (Lora), Lance Winchester (Charlene) Kenneth Walden, Don Everette and Steven Thompson, Fiancé Paula Bryant and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. His love and fathering leadership extends to Benjamin Hutto, Bobby Henderson, Taslimah and Yaqin Muhammad, Genean Pierce Doyle, Tia and Ernest Pierce, Ronald and Charles Battle.

Timothy was pre-deceased by his grandparents Ethel and John Winchester, Mother Mildred Bailey, brothers Brian Bailey and Vernon Everette, and granddaughter Jada Snead.

God saw that you were getting tired and a cure was not to be. So he put His loving arms around you and whispered "Come with Me." With tearful eyes we watched you suffer and we saw you fade away. A Golden Heart stopped beating, a tired body put to rest. God broke our hearts to prove He only takes the very "Best."
