Tyrone Walter Bentley's Obituary

Walter Tyrone Bentley was born in Salem, NJ on July 12, 1960, to the late Clarence Bentley, Sr. and the late Ellen Beatrice (nee Moore) Bentley. After an extended illness, God saw that he was tired and on May 31, 2024 and at the age of 63, God extended his hand and led him home.

Tyrone or "Tye", as he was affectionately known by his family and friends, graduated from Vineland High School (1978) in Vineland, N.J. While a student, he excelled in the band, was chosen to sing in the Select Choir, key member of the chess team and played football.  Following graduation, Tyrone attended Cumberland County Technical School where he learned Landscaping and the origins and benefits of Recycling.

Tyrone, born with a pleasant personality and a great disposition, had the spiritual gift of "Helps".  He joined Haven United Methodist Church and gave his heart God at a young age. Jesus, who was Tyrone's Lord and Savior, strengthened his "Helping Ministry" through Haven's Board of Trustees, the Men's Choir, and the Senior Choir. Tyrone could be heard singing  "What Manner of a Man is This" and/or "Walking in Jerusalem Just Like John" on any given Sunday utilizing his tenor vocals. He loved doing anything he could to serve the Lord and encouraged others to do the same. He was often seen with his Bible his hand ready to share the word.

Tyrone is married to his beloved wife,Deborah (nee Goodwin) of 27 years. Through this union they were blessed with one child, Sherry Lynn Bentley-Joseph.  As a loving husband and father, Tyrone also assisted in nurturing his bonus son, Antoine Goodwin.

Tyrone's ability and willingness to help others led to his side job of local "Cabbie".  He could be seen transporting families to and from work, the grocery stores and a variety of other locales. Tyrone had a love for his family and friends; but his love for Senior Citizens was remarkable.  Often he was at the Broadway Senior Center providing kindness and support.  When he wasn't at the Center, he could be found helping his brother Clarence with recycling, landscaping, and detailing cars.

Tyrone was predeceased by his mother Beatrice Bentley and his father Clarence Bentley, Sr. and some of his bonus brothers and sisters.

Tyrone leaves to cherish his memory his loving devoted wife Deborah Bentley of Salem, NJ, his daughter, Sherry Lynn Joseph (Aderche) of Florida, his bonus son, Antoine Goodwin of Bridgeton, NJ.; his brothers Rev. Clarence Bentley, Jr. (Jennifer) of Vineland, NJ; Luther Carl Bentley of Seabrook, NJ; many bonus brothers and sisters throughout, his Aunt Marcella Bartley, his Uncles Joseph S. Moore, Jr. and John Boykin; several nieces and nephews; his Mother-in-Law, Beulah Goodwin, host of cousins and friends and his Haven Church Family.
