Tyrone Thomas Gillis Sr.'s Obituary

Tyrone Thomas Gillis Sr. (Tye) age 65 went home to be with our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ. He was born in Bridgeton NJ to the late Indiana Luvinia Staples Gillis and Charles Edward Cooper III. He was a life-long resident of Bridgeton. He was a member of Word of Grace Ministries where he accepted the Lord as his savior under the direction of Pastor Russell Alston.

Tyrone attended Bridgeton Public Schools as a young child; received his High School Diploma as a teenager. As a young man he attended Cumberland County College now known as Rowan University of Southern NJ and graduated with an associate degree (AAS) in Accounting . Shortly afterwards he had his own accounting business doing contracts with local offices. Then while being an entrepreneur, he decided he would study law. For 15 years he completed law classes with colleges (Indiana University, Thomas Edison and Cook Community College) who at that time allowed one to take courses through the mail. That study allowed him to become a NJ Certified Paralegal . He started his paralegal services business "TY Legal" about 20 years ago. His family called him, "The Lawyer" because he would get you out of any negative situation you were facing. He is gone now, so we can tell the truth. He would find a way to beat the system legally . He was a Master of Legal Precedent.

After he became a NJ Certified Paralegal, he decided he wanted to help people who were in the lower socioeconomic status. Until he became ill, he helped thousands of people keep their homes, apartments and cars, get their utilities cut back on, get their drivers licenses back. He studied the NJ Criminal Codes and knew all of them by heart. He studied NJ Criminal and Non-criminal laws. He was able to help people with criminal and non-criminal matters. He even was able to help people with their real estate problems. When asked, how do you know so much? He would reply, "Just read and research! That's all you have to do: Read and do your research." For that, everyone loved him.

Tyrone was a quite individual and didn't like drama or arguing. He would simply walk away while you still running your mouth. He would just leave you standing there and quietly say, "Call me when you calm down." He loved spending time with all of his family and friends. However, he wouldn't stay long. He would leave saying, I got work to do. He was a sharp dresser for elegant affairs and liked to show off his dressing skills. Tyrone T. Gillis will be missed by many.

He is survived by the following: His children: Antoinette and Tyrone Gillis Jr; Quincy Griffin, Amber Dickerson, Antoine, Raheem and Portray Williams. His siblings: David and Andrea Gillis, Valerie Gillis Covin, Ronald, Bruce and Donna Williams and Rhonda Harrison(Jule), Charles IV, Catherine, Dori and Jessie Cooper. His stepchildren: Irving.
