Obituary

On June 17, 2026, Vincent L. “Big” Bartley, age 77, peacefully departed this life at his home in Millville, New Jersey, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on September 7, 1948, in Bridgeton, New Jersey, Vincent was the beloved son of the late James and Eula Bartley. He attended Bridgeton Public Schools and later dedicated more than 25 years of service as a construction worker with Local 222.

Known to family and friends as “Big,” Vincent truly lived up to his nickname. He loved big, laughed big, dressed big, and made a lasting impression wherever he went. He was known for his sharp style and his ability to command attention without ever having to ask for it. Big was a man of many words who always spoke his mind and kept it real. Whether people agreed with him or not, they always knew where he stood, and he was respected for his honesty and authenticity.

Vincent enjoyed watching sports and was a devoted Philadelphia Eagles fan. Some of his greatest joys were found in the simple moments—relaxing in his yard, spending time in his shed, and being surrounded by the people he loved. Whether gathered with his brothers, children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, or friends who became family, Big cherished every opportunity to create memories, share stories, and enjoy good company.

Above all else, Big loved his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. For-over 37 years, he shared his life with his beloved wife, Betty Bartley, whom he affectionately called “Bet.” Nothing brought him greater happiness than being surrounded by his family and those closest to his heart.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Betty “Bet” Bartley; Five Sons, Elroy Lee of Vineland, NJ, Vincent Selby of Millville, NJ, Eric McNair Sr. of Millville, NJ, Anthony Bell of Bridgeton, NJ and Keith Mosley of Rochester, NY; Six Daughters, Nateila Jones of Millville, NJ, Sonya Mutcherson of Brotmanville, NJ, Kecia Killiebrew of Connecticut, Vinchell Joynes of Bridgeton, NJ & Tameco Mitchell of Detroit Michigan; four Brothers Johnny Bartley of Bridgeton, NJ, Terry (Yodie) Bartley of Maryland, Bruce Bartley Sr. of Millville, NJ, and Michael Bartley Sr. of Bridgeton, NJ one brother-in-law, Mack (Veronica) Selby Sr. of Millville, NJ one sister-in-law, Lillian (Lionel) Jordan of North Carolina and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

Vincent was preceded in death by his parents, James and Eula Bartley; his brothers, Daniel (Marcel) Bartley, James (Deborah) Bartley, Nathaniel Bartley, Anthony Bartley, Richard Wayne Bartley and, Shirley Bartley and his beloved grandchildren, Jazaya and Dashon Lee.

Although Big’s physical presence is no longer with us, his love, wisdom, laughter, and unforgettable spirit will remain in the hearts of all who knew him. The lessons he taught, the memories he created, and the love he shared will continue to live on through the family and friends who were blessed to call him their own.

A special thank you to Natasha Lee and all of the grandchildren who helped care for Vince throughout his day-to-day life and during his declining health. Your love, care, and support meant the world to him and will never be forgotten.
