Walter Smith, Sr., was born in Penns Grove, New Jersey on September 27, 1955, to the late Richard Watkins and Bertha Smith. Walter was better known to his friends and family as "Cooch".

Walter graduated from Penns Grove School System. After graduation, he worked at various jobs until his illness several years ago. His last place of employment was Walmart.com in Swedesboro, New Jersey.

After courageously battling his illness for several years, Walter gained his wings on January 18, 2022. He left behind so many loved ones to mourn him. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Walter is survived by his companion of over 20 years, Roberta Johnson of Bridgeton, New Jersey; two daughters, Shonda Lipsey of North Carolina and Jasmine Bundy of Penns Grove, New Jersey; two sons; Keith Smith of Penns Grove, New Jersey and Walter Smith, Jr., of Florida; one brother, Rick Pattillio of Penns Grove, New Jersey, and two sisters; Ethel (Sherman) Christopher and Elaine Smith both of Pennsylvania.

He was predeceased by his siblings Tina, Tommy Smith, Keith Smith and Derrick Smith.
