William J. Parker's Obituary

William James Parker, age 77 a longtime resident of Millville, NJ was sent to his eternal home on January 30, 2025.  He was born on February 25, 1947 to the late Margaret "Peggy" Collins and the late James Finney Parker.  From 3 months old, he was lovingly raised by the late Ella Dennis whom he affectionately called "Mother" and the late Jeffrey Dennis, "Daddy".

He was raised in Port Elizabeth, NJ.  He attended Millville Memorial High School and was a graduate of the first graduating class from Millville Senior High School in 1965.  After graduation, he was a member of the United States Army, and worked as a head cook during his service. While in the army he fought in the Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart. He worked as a CAN for 15 years and was employed at Green Giant making seasonings for foods. He was a faithful, lifelong member of Bethel Pentecostal Church.

William is survived by two special nephews Larry Bell (Cynthia) and Maurice Bell; his son, Corey Jones and his grandson J'Meir Jones both of NJ, his sister Johnnie Wilkes of MD, his brothers, James Parker and Joseph parker both of PA, his goddaughter, Alexandria "Lovey" Creamer of NJ and his beloved nephew Jamael Jones of NJ.  He is predeceased by his sisters, Joan Godwin, Elizabeth Rowley, Agnes Bell, his brothers, Victor Parker and Robert Parker, his niece that he loved like a daughter Denise Bell his favorite nephew Eric Parker and dear friend Ben "Chris" Watson. He also leaves behind all the children he helped in raising, 54 to be exact and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins who adored him dearly.

Uncle found great joy in fellowshipping and traveling with his church, and his enjoyment for preparing meals for his family as well as spending quality time with them reflected just how deeply rooted he was in his love for his family. His favorite past times were watching Mama's Family, Law & Order and 227 to name a few. He also enjoyed taking naps, special visits from his sister Johnnie "John" and chatting with his favorite cousin Maggie "Mag" Taylor.

Those who knew Billy will remember him for his profound, impactful presence in their lives from childhood well into adulthood, his comedic personality, his door that was always open to his family and friends literally, his flair for fashion, his beautiful red home décor and his unwavering commitment to caring for his family. He was hilarious and had a true gift for making others laugh, leaving a lasting impression on all who crossed his path.  His infectious spirit will continue to be deeply cherished, bring us joy as we reflect on memories of him and will live in our hearts forever. The magnitude of Uncle's influence in all our lives is unforgettable. He was a blessing to us all, and we will continue to carry forth his legacy of family, love and laughter in all that we do.
