Willie Mae Spann was born on April 15, 1931, in Swainsboro, Georgia to the late Alque Allen Sr. and Willie Jane Allen. Willie Mae passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2022, at the Inspira Medical Center, Vineland, NJ after failing health illness.

At an early age, Willie Mae joined Thankful Baptist Church in Stillmore, GA. Willie Mae graduated from Emanuel County High School in 1948.

Willie Mae married the love of her life, the late Tommie Lee Spann and they had one son (Randolph) and one daughter (Linda). Later, they moved to New Jersey and had one son (Leander) which put a joyful smile on their face and brought laughter to their heart and soul for their children.

Willie Mae worked various jobs at sewing factories in Bridgeton, NJ; Rosenhayn, NJ; and Millville, NJ. Willie Mae worked at Comar Glass in Vineland, NJ and after retiring, she worked part-time at the Newcomb Medical Center helping out in the kitchen. From then, Willie Mae went on and received her Certified Nurses Aide Certificate and she worked for Bayada part-time.

Willie Mae was a longtime member of Union Baptist Temple in Bridgeton, NJ and she served on the Senior Usher Board, ICUA of NJ and Unit of South Jersey.

Willie Mae loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and all children. In her spare time, Willie Mae loved to cook, cater to all, volunteer work at Salvation Army, and travel with her daughter and son-in-law.

Willie Mae will be missed dearly and always remembered for her unique personality in life, her smiles and expressing her opinion.

Willie Mae was predeceased by her parents Alque Allen Sr. and Willie Jane Allen, her aunt Daisy Adams, her late husband Tommie Lee Spann, her sisters; Daisy Bell, Myrtice Allen, Annie Lois Brantley, Nellie Conner, her brothers; Alque Allen Jr, Ray Allen, Paul Allen, Larry Allen, Charles Allen, John Wesley Allen, 2 brothers-in-law; Cefus Barkley and Woodrow Spann, sister-in-law Shirley Harris.

Willie Mae is survived by her two sons Randolph Thomas Spann of York, PA, Leander and wife Tina of Whitesboro, NJ, 2 granddaughters; Shirley Spann and Shonda Spann Cross, 2 grandsons; Urbentino and Calabrese, one daughter Linda and son-in-law George Campbell of Vineland, NJ 2 sisters-in-law; Mary Lester and Bernice Russell of Jacksonville, FL, 1 sister-in-law Catherine Spann of Bridgeton, NJ, 2 sisters; Barbara Wilkins and Mary George of Metter, GA, 1 brother Richard Allen of Metter GA, 1 sister Vera Allen Ali of Stone Mountain, GA, one brother Delton Allen of Atlanta, GA, 1 brother James Allen of Syracuse, NY, several nephews, nieces, cousins, step children, and friends.
