Winfield Conaway, age 75, passed away on June 27, 2026. He was born on May 19, 1951, in Bridgeton, New Jersey and was raised in Salem, New Jersey.
Winfield was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He dedicated many years of hard work and service to DuPont Chambers Works in Deepwater, New Jersey, where he later retired. During his career, he earned numerous certifications and was respected for his strong work ethic, dedication, and commitment.
Winfield had a passion for cars and motorcycles. He was a proud member of the Free Rollers Motorcycle Club, a club he valued and enjoyed being part of throughout his life.
Winfield was united in marriage to Ruth Conaway, his loving wife of 35 years, and together they shared a life and bond spanning over 50 years.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Conaway; his children, Winfield Divon Conaway (Daughter in Law-Laquita Conaway), Lisa Bard Booker (Son in Law-John Booker); and his cherished grandchildren: Jeremiah Conaway, Anthony Watts, Melony Bard, Louis Bard, and Aaron Bard. He also leaves behind five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews who will forever treasure his memory.
He is also survived by his siblings: Charlotte Washington (Sylester Washington), Shirley Butler-Graves, Vaughn Conaway (Merlin Conaway), and Emerson Conaway.
Winfield was preceded in death by his parents, Marion Conaway and Marian Conaway.
Winfield was a calm and quiet man who was not often a man of many words, but his presence spoke volumes. He carried himself with steady strength, and those who knew him understood that when he did speak, his words carried meaning and weight. He was thoughtful, observant, and steady—a man who showed his love more through actions than conversation. Winfield was a family-oriented man who valued togetherness and took pride in his role as a husband, father, and grandfather. He especially loved his toy poodle, Harley Conaway, who brought him great joy.
He will be remembered for his loyal and caring spirit. His legacy of love, strength, and dedication will continue to live on through his family.
